Agenda Set for 2016 HDD Academy

TEMPE, Arizona – Arizona State University’s Del E. Webb School of Construction and Benjamin Media Inc. are once again working together on the Horizontal Directional Drilling Academy (HDD Academy) and the agenda is set.

The 2016 HDD Academy will take place Feb. 11-12, at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel, located across from the conference hotel, the Marriott Residence Inn Tempe Downtown. Arizona State University will award 1.8 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon successful completion of the course. Registration is limited in order to provide quality networking with HDD industry leaders and maintain a low student-instructor ratio.

The goal of the HDD Academy is to establish an annual learning platform for owners, regulators, contractors and engineers focusing on the options and opportunities for future utility pipeline projects. With that in mind, the academy’s technical sessions are divided into three focus areas: “Pre-Construction, Design, and Material Selection,” Construction and Operations” and “Stakeholder Roundtable Discussions.” For the complete agenda, visit hddacdemy.com/agenda. To date, supporting associations include the Distribution Contractors Association (DCA), Pipeline Contractors Association (PLCA), Pipeline Contractors Association of Canada (PLCAC), International Pipeline and Offshore Contractors Association (IPLOCA) and Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). Event sponsors to date include: American Augers, Digital Control Inc., Derrek Equipment, DitchWitch, Herrenknecht Tunneling Systems, McLaughlin Company and Underground Solutions Inc., Vermeer and Derrick.

Last year’s inaugural event sold out and brought together more than 100 HDD experts and contractors to Tempe, all of whom were interested in gaining knowledge about HDD and networking with HDD professionals. Registration for members of supporting associations is $1,095 through Dec. 18, 2015 and $1,195 after. Non-member registration fees are $1,395 and $1,495 respectively.

The Residence Inn Tempe Downtown/University, 510 South Forest Ave., serves as the hotel of choice for the HDD Academy. A discounted Group Rate of $186 a night, plus tax, is available. To reserve a hotel room, contact Marriott Reservations at 800-331-3131 or 480-967-2300 and identify yourself as part of the Horizontal Directional Drilling Academy group, or book online via the HDD Academy website. Rooms must be booked by Jan. 11, 2016, to receive the discounted group rate.
